A TEENAGE cycle champ has had his career put at risk after thieves took his custom-built mountain bike.
Michael Wright, 17, from Wallasey, was placed fourth in the first leg of the Irish Mountain Bike Championship. He was looking forward to competing in the second leg this month but now will be unable to do so.
His bike was stolen from outside Birkenhead Cycle Exchange, Conway Street.
Michael's mother is now offering a reward for the return of the bike intact or any information leading to its return.
The bike is unique: it is a rusty orange colour, has a red leather seat, ice-blue hubs and spoke trims and blue pedals.
Anyone with any information can call Michael's mother, Mrs Platt, on 637-0200 (daytime) or 513-5407 (evenings).
