WIRRAL South MP Ben Chapman has quizzed the government on the lethal drug GHB, which killed a Wirral man last year.
David Hignett, 27, from Prenton, died on December 13, 1998, after taking the legal drug.
Mr Chapman asked Cabinet Office Minister Dr Jack Cunningham if he was aware that police in Wirral were concerned that substances such as GHB are increasingly used by young people. Dr Cunningham agreed that GHB (Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate) could cause damage to people and that he understood there was a "small problem".
Mr Chapman said: "I am pleased Dr Cunningham is aware of the possible dangers of GHB. I am due to see Merseyside Police in the next week or so to discuss this matter in more detail and will ensure the Minister is made fully aware of their views."
