WHETHER New Labour or Old, I see that our esteemed council seems set to again follow the old political motto: Do what I say, not what I do.
Does not the proposed 6.9 per cent council tax increase - well over twice the rate of inflation - make a mockery of Tony Blair's oft-boasted inflation target of 2.5 per cent?
As a small businessman expected to support the government's inflation aims, it seems to me that there is one rule for them and another for the rest of us.
