INCIDENTS at Brookfield children's home, Meols, have prompted Conservative spokesman for social services, Councillor Mrs Lesley Rennie (Wallasey) to ask the council for an inquiry into the home.
She was responding to requests from residents and Hoylake councillors John Hale, Hilary Jones and Gerry Ellis arising from allegations of threats of violence and incidents in nearby shops.
Mrs Rennie says her request has not been dealt with as she wanted. "I and my Conservative colleagues do not think this is 'high jinx'."
She blames the Labour-controlled council for siting Brookfield in Meols in the first place.
"This has caused a scenario of fear for local residents of what will happen next," said Mrs Rennie, adding that a move to get the home closed at a social services committee was defeated.
