CONTROVERSIAL quiz show winner Neil Moir has been fined on motoring matters by Wirral magistrates.
Moir, aged 51, of Limekiln Lane, Wallasey, was sentenced after a number of previous adjournments. He had been convicted in his absence of exceeding 30mph in his Lancia car in Borough Road, Birkenhead, in July 1997, not having insurance, not having a test certificate and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He was fined a total of £490 and had six penalty points placed on his licence.
Moir scooped £64,000 on Chris Tarrant's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' show last January.
But it was subsequently discovered he should not have been on the show because of previous criminal convictions.
It is understood Moir has not had the money. His only comment after court was that the matter is in the hands of his solicitor.
He claimed in court that his documents were tied up on another case and he said he intended to appeal against the convictions. He had to additionally pay £50 costs.
