A BEBINGTON man faced Wirral magistrates for driving a motorised golf buggy when over the alcohol limit.
Defence solicitor Laura Flynn said 31-year-old David William Mitchell was mortified over the consequences, which included loss of his driving licence. He had driven only 50 feet on a public road.
Mitchell lives alongside the Brackenwood Golf Course in Brackenwood Road, Bebington. He pleaded guilty with a test showing 10 microgrammes of alcohol over the limit after he was stopped for not displaying lights in the early evening.
Mrs Flynn said Mitchell had been with friend 'having a bit of fun' with the buggy on the golf course. He had to return the buggy to a storage garage at his home and was 'chugging' along on a near-flat battery when the police appeared.
The magistrates imposed a £100 fine plus £30 costs and a 12-month disqualification. They said they had taken into account the unusual circumstances.
