SPRING may be a time for mad March hares, but as the new bi-annual registration system has started, Volvo has a few sprinters of its own available from Wirral Volvo dealer Drayton Motors?
Volvo T-range provides performance motoring without sacrificing everday practicality and in a package which boasts the peace of mind of cutting edge safety technology, and a luxurious comfortable interior.
This combination is no better demonstrated than with the Volvo S40 saloon and V40 estate T4. Producing 200 bhp from its turbocharged 1.9-litre, the T4 will race from 0-60 mph in less than 7.3 seconds and has a top speed of 146 mph. In fact, the only thing slow about the Volvo T4 is its drain on your wallet as it is capable of more than 40 mpg and on-the-road prices start from just £20,755.
Flexibility is the key word for the next rung on the T-step. With the T5, customers have the choice between understated looks in the Volvo S70 saloon, ultimate practicality with the V70 estate or elegant and muscular styling in the form of the C70 coupe.
All three T5 models are powered by a 2.3-litre 20-valve five-cylinder engine with 240 bhp and capable of 0-60 mph in less than 7.0 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. With the Volvo V70 and its optional rear-facing bench seat, up to seven people can enjoy the T5's performance or alternatively take advantage of its vast 1580 litre (56 cubic feet) of luggage space.
The Volvo S80 T6 has a 2.8-litre twin-turbo, six cylinder engine, boasting 272 bhp and Volvo's ingenious Geartronic transmission providing both a relaxing automatic and an enthusiast's manual gearbox in one. It has a top speed of 155 mph achieving 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds, and features climate control, leather upholstery, a CD player and cruise control as well as numerous other attributes within its £36,230 price on-the-road.
