A REMARKABLE Wirral student has been chosen to receive the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Award for Young People.
Stuart Martin from Bebington High School was chosen for his determination and drive in making the most of his education in the face of severe difficulties.
The 13-year-old has cystic fibrosis and frequently has to spend lengthy periods in hospital but insists on going to school when he can.
Kate Dixon, head of citizenship and English at the school, said: "Stuart remains positive and optimistic despite what are, on occasion, overwhelming difficulties."
Stuart received his award at a school assembly. He involves himself in loads of school activities including charity events and fundraising. Defying his illness Stuart does all he can to take part in the school community and lessons.
Mrs Dixon: "Stuart was thrilled and his mum was delighted. It is a tremendous achievement."
