THE New Year certainly brought in the worst of the Winter weather and severe disruption to the Birkenhead & Wirral A.F. League's weekend cup and Division One fixtures.
A couple of games did survive, including Pacific's fine 4-0 win over The Exmouth. Steve Mills, Matty Boswell and a fine double from Kevin Kelly ensured Pacific started the New Year with maximum points.
The other Division One game saw current champions and league leaders Abbotsford claim a 3-0 win over Lever FC.
It was nearly a full afternoon of fixtures in Division Two, with just one game falling victim to the weather.
Newton claimed their first win in 15 games after coming from behind to beat Woodward Boys 4-3. Newton trailed 3-1 at the break and looked likely to suffer another defeat. With a brace apiece from Philly Morrison and Mathew Leeds, Newton were able to turn the tables and claim a vital win.
