THE competition to rename Wirral council's summer events brochure has been drawn.
Summer Fun is the new name for Junior Wirral Now, an annual publication distributed to nearly 150,000 households just before the school summer holidays.
Produced by the council's Education & Cultural Services, the supplement highlights what is happening in sport centres, parks and open spaces, libraries, museums, youth and community centres and play schemes throughout the summer. In addition it has a great pull-out events diary that gives plenty of activities and events to choose from around Wirral for all the family.
But a change of name was needed and the public was requested to help out.
The Britvic UK-sponsored competition prompted a huge response, and there were six winners.
The first prize of a Pepsi Max mountain bike went to Aliana Bartels from West Kirby. Second prize, a special Pepsi CD stereo system was won by Elle Rogerson from Moreton. Third-prizewinners Amy Rowland from Heswall, and Nic Lawton from Wallasey, both walked away with a personal CD players for their efforts. Fourth-prize winners Phillip Sanders from New Brighton, and Tom Banyard of Wallasey, each picked up a soccer sports bag.
The Junior Wirral Now team features Ann Wells from the council's libraries and museums department; Sue Powell from Wirral Libraries; Hugh Woollacott from the council's sport & indoor recreation department; Peter Jenkinson from the youth & community department and Nick Harding.
