THE only Premier Division fixture in the Wallasey & District Sunday Football League served up a superb end-to-end battle between The Queen's Tower and Clarence FC, with the latter taking the spoils in a surprise 2-1 victory that denied Tower going top of the table.
A goal apiece by Greg Connor and Neil Clarke were enough to claim the points, despite Mark Dooley reducing the deficit from the penalty spot in a barnstorming finish.
Cheshire Cheese inflicted a first defeat of the season on Division One pacesetters Black Horse, recording a 3-2 success thanks to strikes by Terry Orange, 2, and Richard Whorton. Black Horse clawed their way back from 3-0 down with goals from Lee McKeown and Mally Mawdsley.
Windsor edged into top spot with a 4-2 success over Pharmapac (Dave Mills and Ian Robinson), but only on goal difference from Primrose, who drew 2-2 with old rivals Leasowe Seacombe.
