OXTON Hockey Club men's first team avenged their early season defeat in the Cheshire Cup by Timperley with an emphatic 5-0 league win on Saturday.
Oxton, whose hard work brought them domination, deservedly took the lead, a ball crossed in from the right finding Ollie Logan unmarked at the rear post.
Oxton again took the initiative in the second-half, scoring through an individual Gordon Moore strike. Timperley began to buckle, Oxton surging forward, winning a short corner which captain Richard Sutton converted.
Anthony Rawlinson soon made it 4-0 as he rounded the 'keeper to slot home.
Oxton limited Timperley to only one second-half opportunity and that was saved by Neil Yates in the Oxton goal. Oxton still pressed and a run by Nick Heyes led to an inevitable penalty flick, which Sutton finished to complete a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
Oxton now eagerly await next week's trip to Brooklands.
