AS England's trio of strikers failed to find the net against Wales, there were plenty of stunning individual displays from players in the Birkenhead & Wirral Football League, on Saturday (writes Paul Hunt).
There were a handful of Regent Cup games, the most exciting tie being Arrowe Park's 4-3 win over Admiral. The Division Two side led the game four times with all goals coming from Darren Eaton. Third division Admiral made Arrowe Park fight all the way.
Vanser Reserves cruised past Division Three opposition as well with a fine 4-0 win at Delta. Dave Favager hit a fine hat-trick and team mate Mark Herbert completed the scoring.
In Division One, Parkfield recorded a fine 3-2 win over title hopefuls Beechwood Social. Striker Ian McGraa hit a stunning hat-trick to secure the points.
In Division Two, Paul Gunderson was on target for Central Park FC, bagging four goals in a 5-1 win over Brown Horse. Bryan Booth completed the rout for Central Park with a well-taken strike.
Third division action saw the ever-improving Wirral Wanderers claim maximum points as they beat Wallasey Wanderers 3-1. Tom Hughes fired a neat brace with Peter Cain grabbing the third for Wirral.
