POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after a Wallasey man was beaten and subjected to a serious assault.
The 26-year-old was walking along Leasowe Road, Leasowe, at around 11pm, on Friday, October 1, when he was approached by a group of men, one of whom hit him in the face. They then took the man down a nearby alleyway where he was subjected to a further attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Cavanagh, from Birkenhead CID, said: "This was a particularly disturbing attack on a young man, who has been left severely shaken by this harrowing ordeal."
