A READER claimed (Mailbox, October 13) that the idea of a skateboard park in New Brighton was 'outrageous' and 'unbearable'.
A skateboard park on New Brighton promenade is just the thing that is needed. As a local youth leader, I feel that there is not enough provision for youth leisure in this area.
Those against a skateboard park most likely do nothing to engage with youth culture. Skateboarding is a sport for which participants benefit by becoming physically fit.
Connecting it with 'drinkers and graffiti' is inaccurate and unfair.
