FORMER pupil Ron Manley is organising a return trip for former pupils of Class 3B at Mersey Park Primary School - from his home in Canada.
Ron keeps in touch with local happenings by being an avid reader of the Wirral Globe's website. He has sent us this photograph of his old class at the school in Elm Road, Tranmere, in, he thinks, 1949.
"One of my old classmates contacted me and sent me the picture," he explained in an e-mail. "I would like to organise a class reunion, if there is enough interest - as far as I know, there has not been any get-together before."
Ron, now married with three children - he and his wife have just become grandparents, lived in Lower Tranmere, an area that has since been re-developed, and when he left Mersey Park Primary he attended Prenton Secondary School.
"I served my apprenticeship at Lever Brothers as a fitter," he added. "I emigrated to Canada in 1966 and then on to Australia before returning to Canada in 1974 and worked as a contract mechanical draughtsman until 1992. I then went staff at Redpath Sugars as senior design draughtsman. I retired in October, 2003, but still work from home for my old firm."
Ron would love to hear from any of his former classmates. Those who are interested in attending a re-union - Ron hopes to arrange for them to visit their old school again - can contact him via e-mail at: ronmanley@rogers.com or by contacting the Globe on 906-3055. We will forward any messages.
