NEWCOMERS FC Pensby cranked up their challenge for the South Wirrral Football League Premier Division title, thanks to Saturday's 3-0 eclipse of Runcorn Albion.
With current leaders Avon Athletic and nearest rivals Bebington Athletic both disengaged for the day, Pensby siezed their opportunity with both hands, to close the gap on the leaders to three points (writes Vernon Lee).
The victory was endorsed thanks to a Mike Hughes double, and a single from Jon Cowan.
Window Shades were given a good test by Black Horse before running out 3-0 victors. Shades drew first blood with Richie McLoughlin opening his side's account via the penalty spot.
It came as no surprise when the home side doubled their advantage on 80 minutes, Paul Holmes applying the finishing touch.
Any hopes Black Horse had of staging a late rally were buried when Derek Easton made it 3-0.
