IN a weather-disrupted programme, only seven games took place in the Wallasey & District Sunday Football League at the weekend, with many cup ties being lost to waterlogged grounds - but plenty of goals came in the games that survived.
In the only Division Two Cup first round tie played, Paul Devey continued his scoring spree with a double strike in Irby FC's 5-2 success at Wirral Nomads. Lee Jones, Graham Reid and Carl Barber also made the scoresheet, while Lee Budworth and Pedro Barrocca netted for the home side.
Division Two league action saw a vintage performance from Vineyard as they eased home 9-2 against off colour Blu FC, who had Steve Hunt and Steve Davies as their marksmen. Stuart Marl bagged a treble and both Chris Galvin and Tom Lawrenson netted doubles, with singles coming from Peter Cain and Gary Woods in what was Vineyard's best win of the season so far.
A Danny Sherratt brace gave The Plough safe passage into the second round of the Premier Division Cup as they beat Clarence FC 2-0.
The only Premier Division game played saw The Queen's Tower move into third spot following their 3-2 victory over Bronze Social. Lee Jameson hit two excellent goals for the home team.
One Youth Division fixture took place - and it produced 12 goals as Liscard Panthers mauled Barnston Youth 8-4. On target for Liscard were Steve Egan, 3, Carl Wall, 2, Knight, Naylor and Thompson, while James Frobisher, 2, Richard Pilling and Gabriel Sabo notched Barnston's replies.
