TWO goals from Darren Cooper sparked Wirral Hotel to a superb 5-1 victory over Towers in the Wirral Sunday Football League Division One, at the same time costing the current leaders their unbeaten record.
Mike Barry, Bobby Bradley and Mike Jones also found the net, as third placed Wirral narrowed the leaders' advantage to a single point (writes Rob James).
ESWA beat Tixalls 6-0 in a game highlighted by a stunning hat-trick of long range efforts from the impressive Stuey Thomas. Tommy Smith followed suit with three for PSI in their 3-3 nail-biter with Old House, while Ben England, 2, and Gary Francis clicked in setting Victoria Seniors up for a 3-1 win over bottom club Tranmere Supporters.
Elsewhere, Steve Foulkes, Ian Wallace and Davie Kelly were Wirral Health's hot-shots in their 3-3 draw with Childer Thornton visitors, Halfway House.
There was an untimely shock in store for Premier Division leaders Cat, who surrendered their unbeaten record after dipping 3-1 to Sportsman's (Jamie Whittaker, 2, Kevin Downey). Nearest rivals FKA Farmers won by the same margin against Allport, thanks to efforts from Kieran Fleetwood, 2, and Steve Abbott.
