DL Cheshire Oaks are continuing to set the standard in the Wirral Badminton League Premier Division with a maximum 8-0 win against the Wallasey St James second string - but have yet to shake off Millbrook, who made it three wins from three with a hard fought 5-3 success at Rock Ferry.

The latter went on to gain their first win since promotion with a resounding 7-1 win at Neston.

A touch of drama and a lot of good sportsmanship in the Division One South match between Claremount and Irby eventually saw the points shared after two games were conceded, one to each side. The competitive match was being played in fine spirit and was tightly balanced at 3-3 late into the evening when an off-court player had to be rushed to hospital after feeling very ill.

With her son on-court and playing for the opposing side, the match had to be stopped and the unfinished games were conceded one to each side by the two captains, with the resultant draw spoiling Irby's 100 per cent record. The player taken to hospital has fully recovered.

In Division Two South, Wexford did well to halt the Rock Ferry bandwagon with a fine 4-4 draw, while St Catherine's earned their first points with a hard-earned 5-3 success against St Andrews (Meols).

In the North League, BNFL continued their relentless drive to the Division One title with a 7-1 win against the previously unbeaten Moreton, while Cheshire Oaks second team recorded a 6-2 win at Capenhurst Vauxhall and have also yet to drop a point.

In Division Two, Upton Victory Hall retained their maximum points record and go top after a 6-2 win against the improved Oval team.
