West Park . . . . . . . . . . . . 17 pts
Birkenhead Park . . . . . . . 3 pts
BIRKENHEAD Park slumped to a disappointing defeat in the Powergen North Division One derby at West Park St Helens, on Saturday.
Birkenhead opened brightly with Stuart Crampton kicking a penalty after 15 minutes, but after that the home side was mainly in control of a match that developed into a scrappy and sometimes bad tempered affair.
For Birkenhead, Darren Lucas battled well at hooker and Chris Saverimutto showed some good touches at scrum-half, but overall the visitors lacked creativity and were well beaten on the day.
Birkenhead will need to return to form quickly with Chester due to visit the Upper Park this Saturday for another North One derby.
