I WAS disappointed to read (Globe, October 6) that our local authority is one of the worst in the country for re-using resources.
I have religiously recycled paper, glass and aluminium (no facilities for plastic as yet) for many years and, until recently, my local deposit point was opposite the fire station in Exmouth Street. However, since building has commenced there, that location has gone, and the nearest one is Prenton. I do not drive and it is inconvenient.
It is to be hoped that the new initiative referred to in the article will address this shortcoming.
Placing bins within walking distance of people's homes will, hopefully, have the further advantage of encouraging them to leave their cars at home.
