TELEGRAPH, of the Wallasey and District Sunday Football League, signalled their intentions in the Wirral FA Amateur Cup by winning a 15-goal third round encounter with Sandbrook.
The winners triumphed by the odd goal in an enthralling 8-7 match. John Dutton, with four goals, Mark Yates, 2, James Lee Walters and Steve Henry bagged the important strikes.
Meanwhile, The Plough marched into the third round of the Cheshire FA Sunday Cup with a 4-0 triumph over Houlihan's Variety Club, Danny Sharrett hitting two of the goals and Matty Houghton and Ricky Comber the others.
The only Premier Division fixture to take place saw Bronze Social propel themselves out of the bottom three as they beat Parkfield 4-3, thanks to a Mark Scarrett double and singles from Dave Ritson and Lee Jameson.
Parkfield's scorers were Mike Williams, Dave Woods and Grant Hughes.
Pilot Boat had a 9-2 success over Leasowe Seacombe in a Division One Cup first round clash. Pilot Boat's marksmen were Tony Langrell, who claimed a hat-trick, Simon McDonnell, 2, John Fletcher, 2, Dave Snodin and Dave Priestly.
