Craig Manning reports from Prenton Park
TRANMERE Rovers hit the FA Cup trail on Saturday, when they travel to fellow Coca Cola League One club Peterborough United to take the first step on a road which last year led them all the way to the quarter-finals.
Promotion-chasing Rovers, cock-a-hoop after Saturday's 2-1 home win over Swindon Town - their sixth victory on the trot - and manager Brian Little is optimistic that another money-spinning cup run could be on the cards.
He believes confidence and repeated hard work is the key to their success.
Saturday's triumph came hard on the heels of a mid-week 2-1 victory over Port Vale in the LDV Trophy.
While Little insists this is no time for complacency, he remains highly optimistic.
"Overall, I don't think there's been a game where we've been second best for any long spells in the game," he pointed out. "I think we've been the equal of most teams and, again, the reaction of managers after games to our team and the words said to us have been good and very complimentary, so we have every right to believe we can be competitive in the season at this stage."
The manager could not focus on the looming FA Cup tie because of last night's league match at Bristol City and will have to wait another day or two before being able to decide his line-up.
Meanwhile, tonight (Wednesday) Tranmere travel to take on Blackpool in the first round of the FA Youth Cup at Bloomfield Road (7pm).
