THE National Autistic Society is inviting Wirral people to share their 'Autism Angel' stories this Christmas.

These stories, which could be about people who support those with autism or who have the condition themselves, will be posted on the NAS website to celebrate the huge achievements of people with autism and the support that they receive from those around them.

Not only will the stories highlight positive experi-ences of autism in the approaching holiday season, they will also raise awareness of autism by giving an insight into the lives of people affected by this lifelong developmental disability.

The NAS - the UK's leading charity for people with autism - knows from regularly talking to people with autism and their families and carers that each person has a special story to tell.

Stories may nominate carers, support workers, parents or friends who help those with autism. Or people can nominate someone with autism who is an inspiration to those around them.

The NAS would like to know why this person is special to you? How have they helped or inspired you? And why do they deserve to be called an Autism Angel? Nominations are welcome from across the UK.

To nominate your Autism Angel please send a picture of them, where possible, stating in no more than 400 words why this person is worthy of being called an 'angel'. Please email all entries by December 31 to: press@nas.org.uk or post your stories to: Autism Angels, The Press Office, The National Autistic Society, London EC1V 1NG.

Please include your name along with your telephone number and address as the society will need to call you before giving any stories to the media or putting them on the website.

If you would like the photograph returned, include a stamped self-addressed envelope.
