ONCE A derelict quayside warehouse, Egerton House is celebrating ten years since it was transformed into a hub of successful business.

The only original building remaining on Egerton dockside, the office centre was originally known as Interchange House.

But in 1994 in a development led by the training and enterprise council CEWTEC, and supported by Wirral council and the Objective One funding programme, the redundant warehouse was converted into a flagship business centre.

It now houses 24 successful enterprises together with Wirral's three main business advice and regeneration teams.

Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Hilary Jones, joined in the celebrations at Egerton House which also saw the launch of its new website, www.egertonhouse.co.uk

Paul Smith, Egerton House's general manager, said: "Egerton House has become a high profile and successful location for business.

"Ten years ago it very much marked the beginning of the docklands regeneration around Birkenhead and Wallasey, regeneration that is very much in evidence and continuing today.

"Its success is down to the commitment of the excellent team at Egerton House and the support and foresight of the board.

"We are now looking forward to working with our partners to assist more growing businesses by creating more high quality business space and services over the next few years."
