A FUNDRAISING 'fun quiz' is being held in aid of the Zero Centre, a charity that helps to free women and children from dangerous and tragic circumstances.

The Zero Centre in Laird Street, Birkenhead is a dedicated drop-in centre for abused women and their children. After six years of hard work the centre has helped many women and children put their terrors behind them. Now they desperately need funds in order to keep the centre open.

The charity supports around 1,500 women a year with an individually-tailored package of support for as long as it is needed. A six-week programme called 'Venus' has so far revealed amazing results; around 91% of women who have attended have achieved a better quality of life for themselves and their children. Many have since rebuilt their lives, either going to college or returning to work, and now live lives free of violence and abuse.

Children also benefit hugely form 'Leapfrog,' a 12-week programme run especially for five to 11-year-olds who have suffered abuse. The children are often excluded from school for violent behaviour, learned from their home environments, and have huge emotional and behavioural problems.recognised throughout the UK.

The quiz is taking place on Wednesday November 10, at 8pm, in the Slak pub, Milner Road, Heswall. Tickets cost £1 per person, which includes a raffle ticket.
