PUPILS at a Wirral school have got well and truly into the Christmas spirit by collecting presents for disadvantaged children.
Children from St George's Primary School in Wallasey brought in 360 presents in aid of Women's Refuge and Willow Tree Resource Centre.
The gifts included toys, games and books for children who may otherwise not receive much on Christmas morning.
Assistant Headteacher, Louisa Blake, had the idea to run the campaign after her own experiences as a child.
She said: "When I was little I was given presents through the Salvation Army and it really used to make my Christmas.
"I wanted to do something for children who are now in the same position as I was all those years ago."
As well as going to children of domestic violence victims, the gifts willl also be given to those at the Willow Tree Resource Centre, which offers repite care for disabled children.
Stephen Lingard from the charity said: "We are so grateful for the kindness the children here have shown. It is wonderful what they have done for us."
The presents will be delivered to both charities this week just in time for Christmas.
Headteacher Mr Smurthwaite said: "I am so proud of the children for showing such generosity and for thinking of others at this time of year. It's important that they know about children who are perhaps not as fortunate as them."
