A MAN from Liscard has been jailed after he launched a missile towards a police officer during violent disorder in Liverpool.

Adam Harvey, of no fixed address but formerly from Liscard, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday, November 27) after pleading guilty to violent disorder in Liverpool city centre, burglary other and assault.

The court heard that on Saturday, August, 3, 37-year-old Harvey was captured on CCTV throwing a missile towards police which hit an officer in the neck.

Harvey was also seen throwing a missile at a police carrier by Mann Island before being captured on Paradise Street letting off a fire extinguisher at customers outside a coffee shop.

Harvey was also captured moving through Liverpool City Centre with a mob who then attacked iFix phone shop on Church Street and stole stock. 

Harvey was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison.

Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “Harvey’s appalling behaviour was captured on CCTV clearly showing he played a leading role in causing violent disorder in the city centre.

“His behaviour along with the 84 people sentenced for violent disorder in Southport and Liverpool was shocking and they have brought disgrace to the region.

“This behaviour will not be tolerated on Merseyside, and we continue our investigation to identify more people who attended the disorder and we will not stop until we’ve put everyone we possibly can before the courts.

“An investigation into the violent disorder in Southport and Liverpool is ongoing. The total number of people arrested for disorder in Merseyside now stands at 151, with 110 charged and 85 sentenced to a combined 178 years and 10 months.
