A MAN was found dead in his place of work out-of-hours following a family argument, a coroner heard.
An inquest was formally opened at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday into the death of Geoffrey Jones.
Mr Jones, of Poulton, Wallasey, died on November 12 at Aviator Industrial Park in Ellesmere Port aged 62.
The court heard that, following a family argument on November 12, Mr Jones attended his place of work out-of-hours and was found deceased a short time later.
The reason for an inquest was given as an ‘unnatural cause of death’, with the deceased’s identity confirmed by a police constable on November 12 at the scene.
A coroner officer said: “It is requested that an inquest be opened and adjourned to allow for further work to be completed.”
An internal case review by the coroner has been listed for January 25, 2025, with an inquest listed for March 26.
Before concluding the brief hearing, Victoria Davies, area coroner for Cheshire, said: “Given the circumstances, this is an unnatural cause of death.
“It is therefore appropriate to formally open an inquest into the death of Geoffrey Neil Jones and adjourn for further work to be completed for an inquest on March 26, 2025.”
