A BIRKENHEAD man has been jailed for 18 months following an attack in a night club that left his victim unconscious.
Sonny Watkinson, pleaded guilty to an assault in which he strangled a man in the early hours of November 18 last year at the Platinum Lounge, Conway Street, Birkenhead, causing him to pass out.
He was then seen to drag the unconscious 20-year-old victim around on the ground.
Watkinson, who is 36 and of no fixed abode, appeared for sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (Monday, 25 November 2024). He was also handed a Criminal Behaviour Order for five years which prevents him from associating with certain people in public and entering the area where the attack took place, unless travelling through continuously in a vehicle.
Inspector Nicola Hughes said: "Watkinson has a long list of offences to his name, and we welcome today’s results that see him taken off the streets and being handed a Criminal Behaviour Order.
"Our officers will be aware of the conditions of this order and like all CBOs that have been handed to offenders, will be rigorously policed by our EVOLVE Wirral team.
"EVOLVE Wirral is a partnership approach that sees our officers and partners working together to improve the Woodchurch, Noctorum and Beechwood estates and make them safer for generations to come.
“We ask anyone with any information about criminal activity in these areas to contact us, or Crimestoppers, anonymously so we can take action.
