MEET our dog of the week, Betty, who needs your help to find a forever home.

The six-year-old Crossbreed, currently being cared for by staff at Dogs Trust Merseyside is described as 'a sweet, friendly girl who absolutely loves fuss and attention'.

Since arriving at the charity's rehoming centre, she has, according to the team, shown herself to be 'a brilliant canine companion, making lots of friends with staff and volunteers and always greeting them with a waggy tail'.

However, when it comes to other dogs, it is said she doesn’t quite know what to do and tends to walk away if approached so the team think it would be best for her to find a forever home without other dogs.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Betty is a lovely girl. She is really confident and really enjoys a run in our compounds.

"She also likes to play with toys and keeps herself entertained by throwing them around in her kennel so she can chase or catch them.

"We feel she could happily live in a home with children of secondary school age and although we’d like her to be the only dog in her new home, as she settles in she’d benefit from being introduced to some four-legged walking pals so she can begin to understand the joy of spending time with other dogs."

Betty knows some tricks and will happily give you her paw in exchange for a tasty treat, which she takes gently and politely.
