A NEW 'deli art bar' in New Brighton’s Victoria Quarter is quickly becoming 'one of the coolest hotspots around'.

District House, located at 112 Victoria Road, was opened by Liverpool music, arts and culture legend Jayne Casey with her partner Eric Gooden.

It is a creative hub promising 'quality coffee, food, drink, art, music and more'.

It is described as 'a light, spacious and informal hangout that features leftfield pop art for sale on its walls'.

On the menu are artisan charcuterie boards, fish platters, homemade soup, scouse and more, as well as quality coffee, fine wines, novelty beers and cocktails. inside District House on Victoria Road in New Brightoninside District House on Victoria Road in New Brighton (Image: @erintylerfilms) Resident DJs entertain in the back room at weekends, spinning 'funky and uplifting' vinyl sets, and the venue is said to have already had some 'unforgettable nights' in its infancy.

There are big plans for the venue to evolve and host pop up artisan and vintage markets, art exhibitions, book launches and talks from very special guests and inspirational creatives.

After a storming first month, District House seems a perfect fit for Jayne, whose impressive career that includes helping establish The Baltic Triangle and legendary nightclub Cream, all started in New Brighton back in the 1970s.

"As a teen I escaped to New Brighton and worked jobs to get my own flat there, until finally my old headmistress found me and encouraged me to study for my exams.

"I ended up working in Liverpool, got involved in the music scene and the rest is history."

Describing herself as 'a rebel with an attitude', Jayne quickly became heavily involved in Liverpool’s counter culture music scene — fronting Big In Japan alongside the like of Holly Johnson and Ian Broudie and also fronting Pink Industry.

Looking back on her career, Jayne explained: "It’s been quite a journey, when I look back. Eric and I still have District in The Baltic Triangle, an inclusive space for diverse music and club nights, but it feels really special to open a venue in New Brighton — where it all began for me.

"New Brighton was such a great place to run away to as a teen and it represented an escape from my troubled childhood, I now want to give back to the town that gave to me some 50 years ago."

Jayne is drawing on all her creative contacts and bringing some incredible music, art and culture to District House - with lots of exciting announcements and pop up events to come.

Coupled with artisan food and drink, a great atmosphere — oh and not to mention the secret garden to the rear — it seems New Brighton has a new gem.

Jayne summarised: "It's great to be part of this movement here in New Brighton — it reminds me of The Baltic Triangle movement when we took back the buildings from the big banks and corporations and made it an independently owned creative district.

"I admire what Dan Davies has done here in The Victoria Quarter — it’s a triumph for creativity and we’re thrilled to be involved."

District House is located within the old bank at 112 Victoria Road, New Brighton, and open Thurs-Sat from 2pm.

The venue offers artisan food, craft beer, fine wine, cocktails, retro pop art for sale on the walls, resident DJs, pop up events and more to be announced soon.
