CHAAT, a new Indian and tapas lounge in West Kirby, has been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating.

This achievement comes as a result of the restaurant's collaboration with food hygiene consultant, Katy Elliott.

Through her company, 5 Star Food Safety, Ms Elliott implements bespoke systems for businesses, ensuring the highest food hygiene rating if followed correctly.

The restaurant's menu includes small plates, thalis, curries, and biryani.

The eatery has quickly gained a positive reputation for its food, service, and dining atmosphere.

After working with Ms Elliott to establish a system and conducting test inspections, Chaat passed their random environmental health inspection with the highest rating possible.

Ms Elliott, who has over 25 years of industry experience, offers a range of services through 5 Star Food Safety.

These include tailored systems, audits, random inspections, allergen and nutrition labelling, and staff training.

She has helped businesses lacking English proficiency and those with zero ratings to achieve five-star status.

"We’ve put a bespoke system in place that’s tailored to their operation and this will not only protect their customers but will protect them from the dreaded environmental health visits.

"If they just follow the system it becomes second nature and they can then focus on creating quality dishes and wowing their customers."

She emphasised the importance of food hygiene ratings, stating that they can make or break a business.

"Sometimes even just not filling out paperwork can cause a business to fail.

"I’m on a mission to bridge the gap and protect businesses and their customers."
