A WIRRAL pub has been crowned the best in the country for its pints.

The Rose & Crown in Bebington scooped the 'Best Pint' award at the Thwaites Hospitality Awards, which celebrates the brewer's best pubs in the country.

The pub was praised for its 'genuine passion for cask ales' and 'great cellar practices which produce a great pint for customers to taste'.

Hosted by Lancashire-based hospitality group Daniel Thwaites, the awards ceremony saw 140 people gather at the North Lakes Hotel & Spa in Penrith.

The night included a 'Sorrento Sparkle' drinks reception, a three-course Italian feast, a free bar, and entertainment.

The awards recognise excellence across the company's portfolio of more than 190 pubs, with operators competing for honours in 13 categories.

James and Isla Skinner, tenants at The Rose & Crown, said: "We are delighted to win the award for Best Pint as beer is what we do.

"We are so passionate about cask ale and the whole pub revolves around it.

"Huge thank you for this award, it means a lot."

Andrew Buchanan, director of pubs and brewing at Daniel Thwaites, said: "The Thwaites Hospitality Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate our tenants and their fantastic achievements over the last 12 months.

"We take great pride in our pubs and, once again, this year’s calibre of entrants has been outstanding.

"Despite the many challenges the industry has faced, all of our winners have gone above and beyond to demonstrate their resilience to adversity, their dedication to the hospitality sector, and our core values."

The headline sponsors for the night were Birra Moretti, part of the Heineken family, and Thwaites Brewery.

The awards ceremony was also made possible thanks to other sponsors including Egan Reid Group, Diageo, Coca-Cola, Total Food Service, Cask Marque, Harrison Drury Solicitors, Parkinson Signs, Stockchek, Sky, D&M Creative, and Halewood Artisanal Spirits.
