Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.

There are stats for the number of babies born at Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital and how many are born at home or at Seacombe Birth Centre as well as the how many new arrivals were breast fed.

They also record the busiest day each month for births and whether babies are born on their due date, a little early or a little late.

There were 269 babies born in Wirral last month – 1142 boys and 127 girls with two sets of twins.

Some 124 were vaginal births with 115 caesarean sections and 28 babies were born via ventouse or forceps delivery with 105 inductions.

There were three home or community birth and five water births and 157 babies were breast fed.

Some nine babies arrived on their due date with 203 arriving early and 57 coming late.
