THOUSANDS of people attended firework and bonfire displays across Wirral yesterday evening (Tuesday, November 5) to celebrate Bonfire Night.

Displays took place across various areas of the borough including two huge bonfires which took “months to build” in Crescent Meadow in Woodchurch and Ilchester Park in North Birkenhead.

Volunteers from the local community spent weeks collecting pallets and firewood to construct the massive bonfires.

The events featured a bonfire, firework display, DJ, and food and drink vans.

Streets in Birkenhead were reportedly "gridlocked" as crowds of people turned up to watch the displays which have been described by residents as a “huge success”.
