The rise in phone and tablet devices that have internet access has become the main everyday use. Everyone wonders, What's the point in going to school when we can just google and get answers in one click?

To answer that question, someone has to fuel and find out that information to put it onto the internet. New things are being discovered every day, but if we stop learning and going to school, we will not progress in life.

The official government website for education says, “Regular attendance at school gives you the best possible start in life and prepares you for the future. Going to school should be interesting. Not only will you learn subjects, but you will also learn new skills, including social skills. The skills and knowledge that you learn at school will help you now and in later life as you start work. Good attendance shows potential employers that you are reliable.”.

It is proven that school is also a very important part in developing social skills and learning how to interact with other people instead of just messaging or calling like we are mostly used to.

Also, school teaches you skills and knowledge that you may need in later life, like how to make a CV or what to do when you go for an interview so you can get a job and earn money.

School will also explore all the different professions you can go into, so when it comes to leaving school and preparing for finding work with something that interests you, you will have an idea of what different jobs are available for you that will also be something you will enjoy doing.

Developing skills and overcoming challenges is something learnt in school, like confidence. Even if it’s just doing a presentation, it still slowly builds up confidence and resilience, which are very important attributes for many jobs.

Additionally, people who come from a lower income background can go to school, as in the UK it’s free, and start themselves up with good opportunities and the chance to set up a good, secure future for themselves. Digital exclusion may create a barrier to being able to have the full experience of learning as most homework and assignments are set online; however, schools are trying to tackle that. For example, letting students borrow laptops and providing computers or tablets for students to use inside of school.

Overall, many sources, like the Department of Education, believe and have reasons that support their beliefs that going to school is highly beneficial to learning key skills and knowledge that many people will need and use in later life. Also, it can set people up for success and achievements even if they have come from a low-income background.
