WIRRAL brothers Rob and Alan Fennah, AKA Alternative Radio, are performing for 'one night only’ at the Floral Pavilion Blue Lounge on Friday, December 20.

Renowned for their ability to create a massive ‘live sound’ with a single guitar, percussion and vocals the brothers have been a major force in the music industry for over 40 years.

Rob told the Globe: "Although Al and I still enjoy recording and releasing new music, we don’t play regular live shows as we once did.

"Performing over 350 live shows a year, which we often did, was getting a bit much. In fact, this year’s show might possibly be the last one we do so we’re going to make it a bit special".

Alan added: "Yes, thrashing away on congas and bongos for over 40 years has taken its toll on my hands and fingers but they can just about handle a one-nighter.

"Arthritic fingers aside, the best part of the Christmas show is seeing all the old familiar faces again; that’s what makes it really worthwhile".

Rob and Alan were also the men behind the smash hit musical adaptation of Helen Forrester’s, Twopence To Cross The Mersey, which broke box office records at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, when it was first staged in 1994.

To mark this 40th anniversary they will be joined on stage by singer, Dalya Bernstein, whose lead vocals feature on the Twopence soundtrack album.

Rob said: "People have been on at us for years to re-stage the musical adaptation of Twopence To Cross The Mersey but, with all the other theatre projects we’ve been involved with over the years, it simply hasn’t been possible.

"However, with Dalya now joining us on stage we are looking forward to performing old favourites from Twopence for the first time in decades’.

Alan concluded: "We'll also be performing songs from our very first musical stage play, First Night which was premiered at the Glenda Jackson Theatre way back in 1984, so the night is going to be a ‘musical’ event in more ways than one.

"The Christmas show is still a couple of months off but there are only a handful of seats left so if people want to come along they should book their tickets now".
