A FORMER teacher at a Wirral primary school has pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children.
Daniel Johnson, 33, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court on October 15 after he was arrested and charged with two counts of making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child.
Johnson, of Ledston Luck Cottages, Leeds, was previously employed as a teacher at Heygarth Primary School in Eastham
The 33-year-old worked as a teacher at the school until June this year.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and is due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, November 12.
In a letter, seen by the Globe and sent to parents and carers of pupils at the school, headteacher Hazel Beamish, said Johnson had not been on the school site since she was notified by Merseyside Police of the offences.
The letter said: "Following a notification from Merseyside Police informing me that Mr Daniel Johnson was being investigated in relation to indecent images of a child, Mr Daniel Johnson has not been on the school site and, as previously stated, his employment ended at the beginning of June.
"I can confirm the school has worked with the local authority designated officer regarding all relevant actions and all safeguarding procedures have been adhered to. I can also confirm that no Heygarth child has been identified through the investigation by Merseyside Police."
The headteacher added: "Mr Daniel Johnson has appeared in court and pleaded guilty to charges presented to him. He will appear in Liverpool Crown Court mid-November for sentencing. As this is a police matter, I cannot make any other comment in relation to this process."
Wirral Council has been approached for comment.
