A WIRRAL hospital and college is celebrating the success of its apprenticeship scheme.
Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (WUTH), in partnership with Wirral Met College, has announced the “triumphant conclusion” of its '100 in 100' initiative.
The scheme, aimed to promote apprenticeships and secure 100 apprenticeship pledges within 100 days, and has surpassed its goal, achieving a total of 110 pledges.
Gill Banks, Principal and Chief Executive of Wirral Met College, remarked: "Our collaboration with Wirral University Teaching Hospital has been a resounding success, underscoring our commitment to education and the economic vitality of our community.
“The 100 in 100 initiative has enabled essential funding and support for apprenticeships that benefit both employers and the apprentices.
“This is a prime example of how educational institutions and healthcare providers can come together to deliver substantial benefits to our community."
The campaign involved collaboration with 50 small to medium sized local business across sectors such as health and social care, construction, engineering, hospitality, and science.
WUTH has committed £573,743 of its levy funding to the scheme, supporting local businesses directly.
Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive of Wirral University Teaching Hospital said: "We are tremendously pleased with the results of the 100 in 100 initiative.
“This partnership between WUTH and Wirral Met College has exceeded its objectives, highlighting the strength of community and strategic collaboration in driving economic growth and skill development.
“The job creation in the region will support the reduction of health inequalities and sustainable economic growth.
“By proactively supporting apprenticeships, we are creating jobs for the region both as an employer and as an anchor institution."
