STAFF at a Wirral travel agency have raised more than £3,000 for Claire House in memory of a little boy who died at the hospice.
More than 100 people attended a charity event hosted by Hays Travel in Wallasey. Held at the Rose and Crown in Wallasey, it featured a DJ and disco and raised £3,170 for Claire House, which provides specialist care for seriously and terminally-ill children.
The charity has 'an extra special place' in the heart of Hays Travel’s Mollie Jones, as they cared for her seven-year-old cousin, Chad, who tragically passed away from cancer earlier this year.
Mollie said: "Claire House were so amazing with Chad and the family, making sure he was well looked after when he was so poorly, and also providing support for the family after Chad's passing.
"I'd like to thank everyone for coming to our event and helping raise money for this amazing charity.
"We were all beyond amazed with the outstanding final figure and this could not have been done without everyone who was there on the night and everyone who helped out."
Harry Boshell, partnerships manager at Claire House Children's Hospice, said: "Mollie and the team at Hays Travel should be incredibly proud of the charity night they put on for Claire House.
"Our doors can only remain open with the amazing support of local businesses and individuals like Mollie.
“When a baby, child or young person sadly passes away, those next few weeks are some of the hardest for the family.
"Their child can come and rest in our Butterfly Suite for up to seven days, allowing the family time to say goodbye to their loved one before the funeral, whilst being supported practically and emotionally by our team.
"The £3,170 that was raised on the night could pay for a five-night stay, for three different bereaved families in our Butterfly Suite."
