A year of fundraising by members of West Kirby Women's Institute has resulted in donations for two local charities.
At the WI’s October meeting, cheques for £2,380 each were presented to representatives of RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat and Wirral Mind.
The money was raised throughout the year at a range of events, including a ceilidh and a quiz – which were both well supported by the local community.
Richard Diamond, lifeboat operations manager at West Kirby RNLI thanked members for their support, and added that the donation would pay for two years of fuel for the new D-Class lifeboat.
Rachel Gilbert and Sandra Gilbert of Wirral Mind also expressed their gratitude for the funds that will be spent on a range of local mental health services.
West Kirby WI president Lesley Dewsbury said: "We are delighted to have raised so much for this year’s chosen charities.
"Our charities sub-committee really spurred us on".
