A 10-YEAR-OLD schoolboy was allegedly “grabbed” and “slammed into his seat” by an adult spectator during a Tranmere Rovers match.

At around 3.40pm on Saturday, October 12 during Tranmere’s match again Bradford City at Prenton Park, a report was received from stewards of an altercation involving an adult and a boy in the Kop stand.

The boy had attended the match with his friend and his friend’s mother.

Rachel Murphy, the mother of the boy who was allegedly assaulted told the Globe: “My son stood up and the man sitting behind him tapped him on the shoulder and asked him to sit down.

“My son obliged and actually moved seats for the benefit of the man and his wife.

“Then when my son’s friend’s mother left to get the boys food the man grabbed hold of my son’s shoulder and gripped and pinched him and slammed him so hard into his seat that he bit his mouth and started bleeding.”

Rachel said that since the incident her son has said he no longer wants to attend football matches.

She said: “When I arrived to pick him up, he was white as a sheet and crying and shaking.

“He’s got a massive bruise on his arm where he hit it on the way down from being shoved back into his seat.

“I've taken him to the doctors, and he's got pain all in his neck from the force used.

“My son isn't a teenager in a gang who was jumping up and down on the seats giving this elderly couple abuse, he's a 10-year-old boy, still in primary school who likes Pokémon and Minecraft.

“He's been attacked by a grown man for simply getting too excited and standing up. This was the second time my son has been to Tranmere and now he's too scared to ever go back. He keeps telling me he thinks it will happen again.”

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are investigating alongside Tranmere Rovers FC following an incident at Prenton Park football stadium last weekend.
