THREE men were arrested on suspicion of firearm offences following an incident at a house in Wallasey.

On Monday (October 14) at around 11.45am, it was reported to police that two men had entered a property on Park Road in Poulton with a suspected firearm.

Armed police attended the scene and three men, aged 19, 21 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.

According to reports on social media, a nearby school kept its pupils in the building while the incident was dealt with.

Merseyside Police said a suspected firearm was also been seized and will be forensically examined to determine if it is a viable weapon.

Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: "We are relentless in our pursuit of those suspected as being involved in serious organised crime in Merseyside and we are determined to rid our streets of dangerous firearms that cause misery for local people in our communities.

"It's vital that members of the public come forward with information so we can make our communities safer for the decent, law-abiding people who live in areas affected by gun crime.

"Where people are willing to support the police, we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.

"And if you don’t feel comfortable coming directly to the police call the independent, anonymous, Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111, we need to know who is involved in gun crime and where those guns are being stored.
