PATIENTS attending a Wirral health centre have been praised for their donations in aid of a local foodbank.

The team at St Hillary Group Practice in Wallasey supports a local charity each year in conjunction with its flu clinics and this time decided to help Wirral Food Bank.

Patients did their bit for the campaign and staff were 'overwhelmed' with the amount of donations that were brought in.

Volunteers from Wirral Foodbank collected the donations and took them back to the charity's distribution centre.

Practice manager Monika Doyle said: "Our practice team has been deeply moved by the volume of donations which has exceeded our expectations, and we are truly humbled by the generosity of our patients.

"The donations which include non-perishable foods, toiletries and hygiene products, will go directly to helping individuals and families across our local area who rely on the food bank’s services.

"With the increasing demand for food bank assistance, these contributions are more crucial than ever.

Liz from Wirral Foodbank said: “This is amazing!! How very kind of your patients to donate so much food."
