A PUB in Wirral is taking part in a karaoke competition in search of the UK’s next big pop star.

Proper Pubs is on the hunt for the UKs next biggest pop star with 31 pubs in the North West hosting a series of karaoke competitions in search for hidden talent.

The competition champion will win £1,000 in cash as well as a studio recording day to record their very own single.

The runner up will receive a £500 cash prize, and third place will win £250.

The Royal Oak Hotel in Liscard Village is one of 31 pubs in the UK which will be hosting ‘pub heats’ as part of the national Proper Pubs Idol contest.

The contest is live now, with guests able to enjoy the heads ahead of the 'national final', which is due to take place on November 17 at The Broadway in Leeds. 

The heats, which will last until October 27, will see the best three singers from each going forward to the pub final. Weekly winners will receive a bottle of prosecco.

The pub final will take place the week commencing October 28 where nine people will sing two songs each. The pub's winner and runner up will go through to the regional final.

This will be followed by the regional final which will take place the week commencing November 4 where the pub winner and runner up with attend the regional final, each contestant singing twice.

The regional winner will receive £100 bar tab for their home pub.

Then on November 17, the national final will be held at The Broadway in Leeds with three independent judges. The winner and runner up from the regional final will attend.

The national winner will get £1,000 and a studio recording day, the runner up will receive £500 and third place will win £250.
