THE family of a man who died after a car crashed into a tree in Pensby have paid tribute to their father describing him as “full of life, love and laughter”.
On Friday, September 27 emergency services were called to Pensby Road at 1.25pm to reports of a Mercedes crashing into a tree.
The driver, who was believed to have suffered a medical episode while driving, was taken to hospital by ambulance but despite the efforts of medical professionals, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Merseyside Police have since named the driver as 78-year-old David Ashcroft.
In a tribute, David’s children Anne-Marie, Thomas, Victoria and Georgina said:
“In loving memory of David Thomas Ashcroft, aged 78 years old, it is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our Father on September 27, 2024.
“David, a handsome, dashing, and charismatic man, who was full of life, love, and laughter, left us, his family and friends, and this earth, far too soon.
“David, who was born in Liverpool, England, went on to live in Canada and the U.S., later returning to the U.K., where he lived on the Wirral, and in Calderstones, near Allerton in Liverpool, his final resting place.
“David began his career working in engineering on the Empress of Canada (ocean liner), and later, as a successful company director in manufacturing, import and export and property development.
“He was the proud and beloved father of Anne-Marie (Etienne Lavoie), Thomas (Xuan/Uyen Nguyen), Victoria and Georgina, and grandfather to David, Elizabeth, Dean, Blake and Leia, who will miss their Grandad dearly.
“David was also a loving husband and partner to Dawn Turner Ashcroft, with whom he shared a beautiful life for almost 30 years.
“David absolutely adored his family, and friends, with whom he found joy in the simplest of moments, whether in spending quality time with his loved ones, dancing the night away or in sharing a good laugh.
“His smile, warmth, and kindness touched the hearts of everyone that would have the good fortune of knowing him.
“David’s sudden passing has left an immense void in our lives; however, we will forever hold dear the memories, the love that he gave to us, and his guiding light.
"And, although we will miss him deeply, we find solace in knowing that his spirit is with us, with unbroken continuity, and that his legacy of love and joy lives on, comforting and inspiring us each day.
“All who loved him, are welcome to attend David’s celebration of life service that will be held at All Hallows Church of England in Allerton, Liverpool on October 16th, 2024, at 3pm.
“We love you Dad, always and forever, Anne-Marie, Thomas, Victoria and Georgina Ashcroft.”
David’s partner Dawn said: “Dearest blue eyes 30 years of laughter, ups and downs and never a dull moment.
“The birth of our twins Victoria and Georgina brought joy and often a challenge, but we got there.
“We always got there. I always said that I couldn’t imagine my life without you, and for you to be taken so soon is just not fair.
“Keep the parties going and dance your way through the clouds snake hips. Love from your Dawnie.”
