LIFEBOAT volunteers were called to the aid of a man and his dog stranded by the incoming tide near Leasowe Lighthouse.
Holyhead Coast Guard requested the launch of Hoylake RNLI hovercraft ‘Hurley Spirit’ on Friday (October 4) to reports of a man and dog in difficulty.
The hovercraft launched from Hoylake Lifeboat Station and proceeded, but was stood down before arriving on scene as the casualty and dog had managed to make it to dry land and was speaking to Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team members who were on the embankment.
The hovercraft then returned to station.
A statement on Hoylake Lifeboat Station's Facebook post read: "Remember, the tide around the Wirral coast can flood in very quickly.
"Wirral Lifeguards patrols are now finished for the season so we encourage everyone heading to the coast to always check the tidal conditions, weather and local safety signage.
"Always keep an eye on your surroundings and know your route to safety.
Carry a means of calling for help and if you get into difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
