MEET our dog of the week, Nellie, who needs your help to find a forever home.

The seven-month-old Mastiff Cross is said to have had 'a narrow escape' after her time was up in a local pound and she found herself almost being put to sleep.

Nellie has now found a safe place at Dogs Trust Merseyside and even better, in a foster home, where she has been impeccably behaved.

Nellie appears to have had pups in the past but can now look forward to a brighter future at the charity.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Nellie is a wonderful, calm girl who appears to have had a few litters of pups in the past, but now she can concentrate on finding herself a loving new home.

"She's a very friendly dog who just loves to get into the car, so hopefully she has lots of adventures to look forward to.

"We don’t know how she came to be in the stray kennels, but she’s settled well into her temporary home.

"Nellie isn’t bothered about being with other dogs but she is very affectionate with people so should settle quickly with a new family."

Nellie will happily walk with other calm dogs and some friends outside the house would probably be very welcome. She can live with children of high school age and is house trained.
